Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation

The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation is a public benefit cultural institution established in spring 2007. Its founders are Panos Laskaridis and the unforgettable Marilena Laskaridis. Purpose of the Foundation is the promotion -in Greece and abroad- of Greek culture and especially Greek letters and historical and nautical research, as well as the operation of a library named “Kaiti Laskaridis Library. As an active and vibrant cultural, educational organization, the Foundation organizes and executes a large number of educational, cultural and educational programs each year. Target audience is the general public, with specific interest in the student and educational communities with educational programs that involve more than 30,000 children each year. The Foundation is undertaking broader initiatives to save and preserve Greek maritime history and heritage. This includes the complete renovation and restoration of the stone-built lighthouses of Capes Tainaron, Cape Maleas and the Dana lighthouse of Poros island. The Foundation also has an important maritime collection and the largest collection outside the UK of personal items, letters and documents associated with the British Admiral Lord Horation Nelson.

Real Time Graduates

Real Time Graduates is a non-profit initiative that connects Graduates with the Greek Shipping Cluster. It was inspired by the Internship Programme operating within Laskaridis Shipping Co.Ltd. for several years. It is the first free database with CVs specifically targeted for the Shipping Community with studies that include Marine Policy, Maritime Law, Marine Engineering and other from more than 30 Greek and Foreign Universities. The scope of the programme is to connect young and talented graduates without work experience, with the maritime industry. Both the Graduates and the Companies benefit from joining Real Time Graduates as graduates join a community where they may find a traineeship position or a work placement and companies have the opportunity to gain access to a pool of qualified individuals all in one place. More than 100 companies participate in Real Time Graduates including 38 Shipmanagement Companies, 4 Classification Societies, 24/ Suppliers/Manufacturers, 9 Chartering/S&P Brokers and more. Laskaridis Shipping is an active participant in the programme accepting several interns every year.

Bluecycle

BlueCycle is a Blue and Circular economy initiative which aims to reuse marine plastic waste generated from shipping and fishing activities. It was launched in May 2019 and is the first programme in the EU with a holistic approach to the problem of marine public waste. Its goal is to create new, high-quality material suitable for re-integration into the industry, and to explore and promote a holistic approach to the sea waste problem. In autumn 2019, Bluecycle opened its lab, a dedicated space for research, recycling and developing products that have originated from marine plastic waste.
